Mini lobster season 2013
We got a chance to experience our first Key's mini lobster season this year. We stayed at a KP classmate of mine, and the first morning we ran aground for about 3 hours waiting for the tide to lift the boat off the flat. We did get some lobsters later that afternoon, and then were promptly pulled over by FWC, getting cited for 2 emergency equipment violations. Luckily, they were much cooler about 2 lobsters which were inadvertently caught undersize. All in all a good experience, and some spearfishing produced a lion fish! Good times on the boat, and on the way home, we dropped off Ryan with his good friend Joey to continue more of the same.

Captain Rachel on maiden voyage
Rachel took out her cousin's, Breanne and Ally to do some fishing. This is her first attempt at driving this vessel, and was hooked on fishing after last night's encounter with a redfish. Unfortunately, after she hooked the fish up, we could not get it into the boat, however, she exclaimed, "Daddy, I really like this!!" She could be dad's newest fishing partner.

Ryan slays another redfish
His largest red ever, being barely in slot, made for an exciting evening of fishing on the Banana River.
Summer Camp at Camp Daniel Boone
Camp Daniel Boone for part of the week. We came home for a day mourning the loss of Nancy. The boys went back and finished some merit badges before the memorial service.

Fishing with Ryan
Mosquito Lagoon was good to us. We wanted to fish the Lagoon, and headed up at 4 am one morning. We had heard of a good spot, but had never been there. As we got there, we were the first boat in the water, our humble little john boat being followed by some serious rigs. However, as the photos show, we produced some results
We had hooked 3 big reds, and the bottom photo shows a double hook up we had. The monster on the top was our 3rd, which was released. He was bigger than the legal slot size, and plus, we had limited out by 7:09 am. A blackened red fish feast was held this evening!!
